Saltspring

Saltspring and its wineries (have you been to Mistaken Identity Vineyards ?), its parks, quiet beaches, and quaint Saturday market, is indeed a great place to spend a week-end.

We are lucky that our friends Vince and Sandy Knight (who grew up on Saltspring) still have a “summer / weekend” house with a warm pool in the yard and tennis courts nearby, as well as an eclectic array of cocktails prepared with brio by the one and only Vince.  We always have a great time when we go for a relaxing visit (or to split and haul 50,000 cords of wood).

Saltspring has a lot of neat little parks, quiet beaches and friendly restaurants, and it’s amazing how a short ferry ride can take you to a totally different world.  Of course, Marc also likes to ride his bike over to the Island … but why bother with the direct Swartz Bay to Fulford route when you can climb the Malahat and add an extra 60 km to take the Crofton to Vesuvius ferry … 🙄

We have also thoroughly enjoyed our visits to MIV for special afternoons or evenings under the stars with hosts and great friends Cliff and Barb Broetz, and one summer Don & Pat Unger even managed to convince Deanna to go canoeing in one of the local bays !
